Can I overdose on magnetic therapy?
In one word NO - You cannot overdose on magnetic therapy. Medical healing magnets do not work the same way as drugs. You can overdose on drugs because they are chemicals that your body (liver) needs to excrete before it gets to harmful levels in your system.
That’s why you have to wait for a said amount of time before taking more drugs and only at the prescribed dosage. Otherwise it can have catastrophic effects.
Magnetic therapy treatments on the other hand works in a totally different way. There is no harmful chemicals involved. It is totally natural and safe for the body. The body does not have to get rid of some magnetism before you can add more as it is the case with drugs.
There is no maximum dosage of magnetic strength and you cannot wear too many magnets. An MRI scanner (magnetic resonance imaging scanner) uses magnetic fields to scan the body for disease and injuries. They are used in hospitals every single day without any harmful side effects. An MRI scanner emits a magnetic strength of approximately 500,000 gauss which is significantly stronger than the magnetic strength of 25 medical magnetic products. How safe is it to use magnetic therapy with conventional medication?
It is perfectly safe to use magnetic therapy products with all conventional treatments except drug patches. This includes oral medication, physiotherapy, steroid injections, epidural injections, splints, supports, gels and creams and tens machines.
Healing magnets do not interact with medication prescribed by your doctor, they will not affect the way in which your tablets work even if you are taking lots of tablets for several different problems. For example you could be taking warfarin, high blood pressure tablets, aspirin, insulin, diabetic tablets, pain killers, steroids, anti depressants, high cholesterol tablets and many many more.
The only medication that will be affected by magnets are GTN drug patches, all other medication and drug patches are safe to use with magnets.
Magnetic products do not interfere with any treatments that you may be receiving from your doctor or specialist (except dialysis, chemotherapy and radiotherapy).
You do not have to stop using magnets before you start a course of treatment, for example you can use magnets if you are having a course of steroid injections or if you receive epidural injections. Magnets are safe to use during a course of physiotherapy or hydrotherapy. Continue reading Magnetic therapy treatments and drugs…
Who should not use magnetic therapy treatments?

Are magnetic therapy treatments safe for everyone to use?
Healing magnets are perfectly safe to use as there are no known harmful side effects to using them providing you do not fall into the following categories:
#Â People with an internal pacemaker - the magnetic field may interrupt the signal between the pacemaker and the heart. Magnets could cause a pacemaker to malfunction. You may use magnetic products such as magnetic jewellery or straps if your partner has a pacemaker, but they should be removed for periods of intimate contact with your partner, for example sexual intercourse.
#Â People with an internal defibrillator (machine which re starts the heart) - the magnetic field may interrupt the signals between the defibrillator and the heart, causing the defibrillator to malfunction. If a partner is using therapeutic magnets follow the precautions for a pacemaker above.
#Â People with an internal insulin pump - a magnetic field could interfere with the timing and delivery mechanism of the pump, causing the machine to administer an incorrect dose of insulin. If your partner is using magnets follow the precaution as per the pacemaker. Continue reading Who should not use magnetic therapy treatments?…
Magnetic Therapy North or South Pole

Pole Wars - The North v/s South Debate
Â
There are many conflicting opinions regarding the use of north or south pole magnets. Both poles of a magnet have beneficial properties.
The south pole, also known as the negative side, and often coloured blue or black, has calming, soothing and reducing properties.
The north pole, also known as the positive side, and often coloured red, has stimulating, healing and growth properties.
If you have a chronic ailment you will most probably have the needs of both poles properties at some point. You can achieve this in 2 ways:
1. Use unipolar magnets ( one pole only on each side) and start with the south pole and then after a period if time turn the magnet over and treat the injury with the north pole.
2. Use bipolar magnets (both north and south poles on the same side of the magnet) and treat the injury with both poles at the same time.
The controversy revolves around the unipolar versus bipolar debate. Advocates of unipolar magnets say that you must only expose one pole to the body at any one time and there should be a resting period of 2-3 weeks in between changing poles.
This means that healing time can be greatly increased as the first application of the south pole will reduce inflammation and sooth pain but your body must then wait 2-3 weeks to receive the stimulation to heal and encourage new cellular growth. The other main drawback of unipolar magnets is that an individual can be responsive to only one of the poles. If this happens and you start by using the pole that you are unresponsive to then you may test that pole for 3-4 weeks, without any benefit, then you must remove the magnet and wait another 2-3 weeks before testing the opposing pole. How does magnetic therapy treat your pain?

Healing magnets affect your body in different ways. One way magnetic therapy works to heal is through improving the blood flow around an injury or wound.
Magnets are composed of metal alloys such as iron, nickel or cobalt and will attract many different types of metallic particles. The blood contains iron and when therapeutic magnets are placed on the skin the magnetic field penetrates through the skin and into the surrounding tissues and blood stream. The iron in the blood is attracted to the magnetic field, this causes movement within the blood stream and the increased activity causes the blood flow to improve.
The increase in blood flow is localised to the area where the magnets are placed, unless the magnets are placed directly over a major artery such as the radial artery (the wrist pulse point) or the carotid artery (the pulse point in the neck). Magnetic Therapy For Relieving Inflammation

What happens when I have inflammation
The inflammatory reaction is one of the body’s oldest defence mechanisms. When damage occurs the body’s automatic defence system starts the inflammatory process within seconds. Blood flow is firstly increased at the point of injury, the blood vessels widen to allow oxygen, clotting agents and white blood cells to penetrate the damaged tissues. Over a period of hours the concentration of white blood cells increases at the injury site (white blood cells fight infection).
Individual cells are affected by the inflammatory process. Extra fluid migrates from the blood vessels into the damaged cells; this begins the process of disrupting the ionic balance of the cell. The chemical balance of the cell changes and cellular degeneration begins. The presence of extra fluid, white blood cells, increased blood flow with in the tissues causes the damaged area to enlarge and swell, this is commonly known as oedema.
How healing magnets fight inflammation?
When therapeutic magnets are placed over an area of inflammation, the magnetic field penetrates through the skin and deep into the tissues and blood stream. Continue reading Magnetic Therapy For Relieving Inflammation…
