In July 1986, I was enjoying a relaxed trek when disaster struck, my
horse was startled by a bird and as he bolted he tripped. I shot over his head and
crashed to the ground and then he came thundering down on top of me.

I broke my back in 2 places. I was suffering intense pain and wasn’t able to bend down or
twist. I was permanently at the G.P’s office. Each time he told me it’s a healing process
and you have to be patient. Keep taking the painkillers and just get on with your life. I
really did try to get on with my life, I went back to work but was pretty useless.

I soldiered on with the pain, trying desperately to get my life back to normal, but there
were so many things that I still couldn’t do. My 3 year old, Dylan, was too heavy for me to
pick up, if he fell or banged himself I couldn’t pick him up to comfort him. My husband had
to bath 1 year old Emily because I couldn’t bend over the baby bath. Plus I would wake
up as many as 15 times every night, in agony.

Getting out of bed in the morning was a whole different kettle of fish. I eased myself
across the bed at a snails pace, then came the debacle of rolling over onto my stomach,
hanging my legs over the edge , kneeling on the floor and eventually working myself to the
end of the bed where I clung onto the bedstead for dear life as I hauled myself into and
upright position. After this 15 minute fiasco I would have to slowly stretch my spine gently
until I could feel my vertebrae unfreezing.

Over the next 9 years I tried osteopathy, acupuncture, massage, exercise and physiotherapy
to no avail. My GP exhausted all the available treatments, there was simply nothing left to try.

Christmas Ruined Because Of Pain

In Dec 1999 Just 2 days before Christmas I was lifting my daughter out of the bath and I
slipped a disc. I spent Christmas day lying on the sofa with a bag of frozen peas stuck down
my knickers. I ate my Christmas dinner alone on the sofa whilst everyone else enjoyed the
festivities at the table. Words can’t describe how thoroughly miserable I was.

After months of medication and treatment I was relatively back to “normal” and carried on with my life.  However although I was well enough to continue with my life - I got married, had children, worked and looked after elderly parents, I was never free from pain and as I got older my pain intensified untill about 5 years ago where it got worse.

I developed a collapse of my cervical spine as well as my lower back discs and surgery is not possible at the moment.  I was living on anti inflamatries and pain killers, going from one doctor to an other and trying all kinds of alternative remedies. I couldn’t sleep because of the pain, stopped working (as I am unable to use the computer at length)  had to get carers to help me look after my mother in law and home help for myself..

Can I do more?  Secondly, three weeks ago I broke the scaphoid bone in my
right hand and have been in a cast since and will be until August 30. Thus
I have not been wearing the bracelet because I thought it would interfer
with my watch if worn on my left arm.  I have noticed that I am feeling
tired throughout the day and wondered if this was a cause of not wearing
the magnets.

Do you think a magnetic pillow pad would be of benefit? Is
there something else I could wear until my broken scaphoid heals?  I was
with a friend yesterday evening who had recently returned from Ireland
where a friend of his had stuck two magnets to his chest and two to his
back. Have you heard of this? I look forward to your comments. Kind

Sorry to hear that you have been in the wars.

You could try wearing medical magnets above the point of the plaster cast. Maybe a magnetic
elbow strap, just until the cast comes off and then you can go back to
using your magnetic bracelet. This will also help your bones to heal faster.

You may be feeling tired because of your body healing, possibly beacuse
you have stopped using the magnets. The magnetic pillow will help if you have
problems sleeping at night time.

You may feel better within yourself if you were to drink magnetised water
as this will allow the body to absorb magnetism from the inside and it has
been proven to help with detox and to give a boost of energy among other
things.

I have only heard of one other case in which people wear magnets on the
chest and back and that was for the treatment of asthma. Of course if he
had pain on the area he had placed the magnets then that would also be
effective.

Eight years ago, I was suffering excruciating pain. I have osteoarthritis in my back, hands, shoulder, neck, knees and feet. Eight years ago I was at my wits end; I simply couldn’t face another day in pain.

I was somewhat, like most people, open minded but rather sceptical about magnets. I had a very bad fracture over the middle joint of my right ring finger. The tendon had pulled away from the joint, taking part of the joint with it and unfortunately the loose end had embedded itself in the remainder of the joint.
