What is magnet therapy?
Magnet therapy is a natural way to treat a wide variety of ailments in both humans and animals. It is 100%
safe, drug free and has no side effects. It works well as a therapy alone or
in-conjunction with both natural and conventional therapies. Small high strength
healing earth magnets are placed on the body as close to the point of pain as
possible. Magnets can be applied in the form of straps, wraps, jewellery,
insoles, pillows, mattress covers. Magnet therapy has been around since 2000 BC
and has its roots in Chinese medicine it has been used in China along side
Acupuncture and Reflexology for thousands of years.
How does magnet therapy work?
Magnets increase blood flow and circulation. They speed up the healing process and alleviate pain. Our bodies contain a
magnetic charge that is essential for it to function. The modern environment in
which we live emits various types of interference from mobile phones, radio
waves, microwaves etc. This interference disrupts the bodies’ natural
magnetism. Using magnet therapy realigns the bodies’ natural magnetism returning it to normal.
As a result of this, inflammation in the body is reduced particularly around injuries. Excess fluid
retained in the tissues is removed along with toxins, which are stored there.
Magnets also stimulate the blood circulation and increase the blood flow through
the heart. This results in increased oxygen to the organs and tissues.
How long will it be before I feel the benefits?
Do not expect instant results! Magnet therapy can take up to 4 weeks to have an effect. Each person
will react to magnets at a different rate. Some may feel the benefits within 48
hours and some within 2 weeks. The effects may be gradual at first and slowly
increase over a number of days. Most people will have a noticeable difference
with in 2 weeks. The magnets must be worn 24 hours a day 7 days a week in the
initial period. Once good effect is felt and your pain has gone you may remove
the magnets. If the pain returns then you should put the magnets back on until
the pain has again subsided.
Please note magnet therapy cannot cure ailments. It is used to treat the symptoms of an
ailment. It cannot mend worn out joints or cure arthritis. But it will alleviate
the pain associated with the ailment.
Are there any side effects to wearing magnets?
There are no side effects to wearing magnets. You cannot overdose on magnetism. It is 100% safe, it has no
drugs and is non invasive. You can wear as many magnets as you like for as long as you like.
Who shouldn’t use magnets?
You should never use magnets if you have an internal heart pacemaker, as the magnets will interfere with the signals to the heart.
You should not wear magnets if you use an internal insulin pump.
As the pump will not function properly.
You should not use
magnets whist you are pregnant.
I don’t fancy drinking magnetized water and taking the magnetism into my body. Will it interfere with my medication? I have to be careful what I take, I am allergic to so many things.
Drinking magnetized water is the most natural thing you can do. All water is magnetized at source, as it comes out of the earth's core.
The earth's core is a huge magnet and when the water flows through it, it picks up the magnetic charge. If you think about spring or spa water that comes straight out of the rock, this is pure untreated water . For years people have gone to these springs collecting water in bottles as it has therapeutic properties.
This is because it is magnetized and drinking magnetized water has a lot of benefits.
Of course 1000's of years ago people didn’t know this. They just knew they felt better when they drank it. The water that we drink from the tap no longer contains any magnetism as it has been destroyed in the purification process.
So when we magnetize water we are only returning it to its natural state. It has no side effects as its not a drug.
Its completely natural. It doesn’t matter what or how many tablets you take a day, it will not interfere with any of them.
I've had a heart valve replacement can I use the magnets?
Yes the magnets have no side effects. They will increase your circulation,
reduce the amount of work your heart has to do and make your heart beat more efficiently.
Regarding the insoles, how thick are they will I be able to get my shoes on? Will
I be able to walk on the magnets? Are they comfortable?
The magnetic shoe insoles are very thin (3mm) and fit into any shoes. Even if you wear arch support insole you can put the insoles on top as they become pliable when warm. The magnets are slightly raised in the sole but they are comfortable to walk on, if you have sensitive feet you can turn them over and walk on the flat side.
I take a lot of medication one being Warfarin, will
I still be able to use magnets?
Yes you can. Magnets have no side effects as they are not a drug; they are
completely natural, so they will not interfere with any drug whatsoever.
I am having treatment with the osteopath at the moment.
Is it alright to continue this and still wear magnets?
Yes it is quite safe to have both treatments at the same time, as they are different types of treatment. The osteopath will manipulate your body and do remedial massage, which is good for muscle spasm. Magnets will increase circulation eliminating inflammation,
release endorphins, the body’s natural painkiller, and encourage healing of soft tissue, and nerve damage.
Therefore it is good to have the two treatments together, although usually most
people will give up going to the osteopath after using magnets for a few weeks
as their pain starts to reduce.
I am under a medical consultant at the hospital for
my pain at the moment; can I still use magnets?
Your consultant won’t be able to advise you about magnet therapy as this is not his field
of practice. He/She will only know about conventional medicine, but shouldn’t mind you using magnets as it won’t interfere with any treatment he/she will give you.
Quite often he/she will say that there is nothing else he/she can do for your condition other than give you painkillers, and this is true. The magnets work in different ways to conventional medicine.
They are not a cure but they treat the condition by increasing circulation to the damaged area, eliminating inflammation, releasing endorphins, the body’s natural painkiller, and encouraging healing of soft tissue, and nerve damage.
Can I use a tens machine as well as using magnets?
Yes you can. But not at the same time. If you want to use a tens machine and
are using magnets just take your magnets off whilst using the tens machine, and
put them back on afterwards.
Can I use an electric blanket when I have a magnetic mattress cover on the bed?
Yes you can. Place your electric blanket underneath the mattress cover. We
recommend that you turn the blanket off when you are in bed as it will heat the
magnets in the mattress cover that might become too hot for you to lie on. You
might also find that you do not require your electric blanket on a high setting
anymore, as the magnetic mattress cover creates a feeling of warmth when you lie
on it due to the enhanced circulation in your body.
Can I have steroid injections and still use magnets?
Yes you can. They will not interfere with each other. It is completely safe to have the two together.
Can I wear too many magnets at the same time?
There is no such thing as wearing too many magnets
as you cannot overdose on magnetism. The more magnets you can wear the better, especially if you have all over body pain.
Some people use a mattress cover in their bed and wear a necklace, bracelets,
knee strap, back belt and drink magnetized water during the day. This is perfectly safe as it retains the level of magnetism in your body. It is very important to wear magnets 24-7 otherwise it would take twice as long to take away the pain, if you only used it for half a day.
Can I take my magnetic products on a plane when I go
on holiday?
Yes you can. Although you should put them in your hand luggage.

GAUSS MEASUREMENTS:
Gauss is the unit in which the strength of a magnet is measured. The
higher the Gauss the stronger the magnet. For an example a normal fridge magnet
is around 150 gauss (15 mTesla). A healing magnet should have a minimum of 800 gauss (80mTesla).
Many magnetic products available for sale do not have the minimum
required gauss for healing purposes. Before purchasing a magnetic therapy
product always ask for the strength of the product if the gauss of each
individual magnet is less that 800 gauss then do not buy the product as it does
not have the power to penetrate through the skin into the body.
At World of Magnets, we only use
high strength magnets in our products. All of our straps, pillows, mattress
covers and animal products use 2400 gauss (240 mTesla) magnets and our jewellery products all
contain 1200 - 3000 gauss (120- 300 mTesla) magnets. The total gauss of each of our products is
listed on the website and in our brochures.
N.B. All the strength stated are surface gauss rating, not manufacturer's or
core gauss. A surface gauss of 3000 will usually equate to a core gauss of
14,000.
All of our packaging contains full information about the strength of our products.
DIFFERENT TYPES OF MAGNET:
There are many different types of magnet available on the market. Not all
types of magnet are suitable for healing purposes. See the list below for the
different magnet types and their uses:
1. Ferrite magnets: man made from hard wearing metal these are mainly
used for industrial purposes, but they can be found in healing products. They
are not always an adequate gauss for healing purposes, around 800-1000 gauss and
they do not conduct the healing magnetic field as well as Neodymium magnets.
2. Ceramic magnets: man made from a clay base these magnets are mainly
used in industry and for domestic purposes such as fridge magnets. These magnets
should not be used for healing purposes, as they do not conduct well between the
skin and the magnet surface. They are generally not very strong around 500-800
gauss and are not hard wearing with a limited life span.
3. Neodymium magnets: made from a metal found in the earth’s core these
magnets are known as rare earth magnets. They are the most widely used for
healing purposes and are also called healing magnets for this reason. They are
hard wearing, high strength and have a life span of 10 years. They are the best
magnets for healing use and provide the best conductive field. They are usually
high strength around 1200- 3000 gauss. Neodymium magnets are high-grade magnets
and are used by NASA for the purpose of maintaining muscle tone in astronauts
during space flight.
4. Flexible magnets: made from a flexible metal/rubber mix these are
mainly used in industry but can also be found in healing products. They can be
high strength but generally not as strong as neodymium. They do not have a long
life, as they are prone to more wear and tear than metallic magnets.
At World of Magnets
we only use pure high-grade neodymium magnets. All of
our magnets have a life span of 10 years. Before purchasing a magnetic product
always check which type of magnet you are buying if you cannot find out what
type it is beware! As the magnets may well be industrial purpose magnets and not
healing magnets. If in doubt don't buy. A reputable supplier will always list
which type of magnet they use.
CHEAP IMITATIONS BEWARE!
There are hundreds of magnetic therapy suppliers around today. Many
people have noticed how magnet therapy is going in popularity especially as many
celebrities jump on the bandwagon. As a result it is quite common to go to a
local market or shopping centre and find a magnet therapy stall selling magnetic
jewellery. These stall holders often sell their products at very low prices. How
can these stall holders sell their products so cheaply it is not because they
have low overheads as they would like you to believe. It is because the products
that they are selling are sub standard. They are usually low gauss ferrite
magnets with only around 500 gauss per magnet. The jewellery may not be
made with a copper base, which is best for healing purposes, and they may not
have gold or silver plating on them. Many people will have a reaction to metals,
which are not gold, or silver-plated.
-
The cheapest magnetic product is not always the best product. Always remember if
it sounds too good to be true then it probably is too good to be true.
-
Spending £5.00 on a magnetic bracelet with less than a 800 gauss magnets in it is
the same as throwing your money down the drain.
-
A magnetic product is a medical device regardless of whether it is a magnetic
strap, pillow, or a piece of jewellery. Ask yourself this question:
" Would you expect to pay £5.00 for a
medical device?"
The answer is No. Magnetic products do not have to cost the earth but a
high quality, high strength, healing product will have a realistic price tag.
At World of Magnets, our aim is to give you an extensive range of high strength
products at a price affordable to everyone.
Here
are the magnetic therapy products that we recommend you use for your back,
hip, sciatica, neck, shoulder, wrist, hand, arm, foot, ankle, lower leg,
