Hi there,

Are your mattresses Bipolar or Unipolar?  I understand there are 2 different types of products out there and wondered which yours was.
Thank you,
Joey.

Hi Joey

It is definately important to know the polarity of your magnets. Magnetic therapy has many properties and benefits and the pole that you should use would depend on what you wanted to gain from useing magnetic therapy in any form not just mattress covers.

The north pole of a therapeutic magnet is the one that most people react to and gain the most benefit from. It is a positive pole it will increase circulation and reduce pain.

The south pole of a therapeutic magnet is not so commonly used. Although it is classed as the negative pole it still has beneficial properties. It will reduce inflammation and sooth the area.

Studies have shown that most people respond better to the north pole so this one is more widely used.

The magnopain magnetic mattress covers, which can be seen at
 http://www.worldofmagnets.co.uk/shop/proddetail.php?prod=allbody
contain north pole facing high strength neodymium magnets. This means that the north pole will be facing the skin.

I hope this has helped you and answered your question.  Smiley

Best Wishes

Hi there Kat,

Thanks for the reply.  Although I'm even more confused now because you seem to be saying the opposite to what everyone else is saying.  I have read time and time again, specifically from the "Grandfather of Magnetic Therapy" William H. Philpott that it is the Negative Polarity that should be used in the vast majority of cases...especially with sleep pads!  And yet you say in your reply that your mattresses use the Positive Polarity!
Here are some links which explain what I mean:

hi Joey,

Let me see if I can clear the confusion as both Kat and yourself are right!

Firstly in industrial terms, the positive end of the magnet will create as negative magnetic field and vice versa.
that's why DR philpott quotes

"We can't stress this enough! The Negative (Medical North) and Positive (Medical South) poles of Mono-pole / Uni-pole medical bio-magnets have been shown in clinical and laboratory research, to have completely opposite effects on living biological systems. Please note that Industrial magnetic NORTH is equivalent to Biomagnetic or medical magnetic SOUTH."

So when we say that out magnets are north facing, what we actually mean is a negative magnetic field is being emitted as the positive pole emits a negative field.

In other word both Dr philpott and kat are right.
Hope this makes sense. But what you need to know is all the magnetic therapy products on this site are north facing i.e negative filed

regards
